  • Researching Women: Community Cookbooks and What They Tell Us About Our Ancestors

    Community cookbooks, commonly known as fundraising cookbooks have been around since the Civil War. They serve as a “city directory” of women, with everything from names, residences, and in some cases familial relationships and photos. Community cookbooks are a unique genealogical source that provides much more information than just a recipe. In this presentation, author and instructor Gena Philibert-Ortega will explore the history of community cookbooks and how to use them for your family history.
